Yuan Yuan

Yuan is a clarinetist, and currently serves as a clarinet professor, doctoral advisor, and the head of the Ensembles Teaching Group of the Orchestral Instruments Department at the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM). He is also the director of The CCOM International Clarinet Festival and artistic director of Buffet Crampon Clarinet Competition.

Yuan learnt the clarinet at CCOM under Huang Yuanfu and Tao Chunxiao, then furthered his studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under Herman Braune. He was a jury member of several international competitions, such as 42nd International Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Belgrade (chairman of the jury), 2nd and 4th Jacques Lancelot International Clarinet Competition in Japan. He regularly gives recitals throughout China, and has been invited to give masterclasses and recitals at conservatories and festivals around the world, including the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles in Belgium, the Sibelius Academy in Finland, and 3rd European Clarinet Festival. He has also been invited to perform at Shanghai International Clarinet Art Festival, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra International Clarinet Art Week, Lanzhou International Clarinet-Saxophone Art Festival, to name a few.

Yuan was the Deputy Principle Clarinet of China Philharmonic Orchestra from 2005 to 2018. To promote the clarinet in China, he founded the CCOM International Clarinet Festival.
