Jing’er Xu

With a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Xu is a lecturer at the Piano Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music. She started learning the piano at the age of five, and was admitted to the Elementary Section of the Music Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2000. Under the tutelage of Li Daoyun and Xiao Shuang, she has won several piano competitions at home and abroad. In 2009, upon graduating from the Music Middle School, she was admitted to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music on full scholarship, studying with famous pianist Yoshikazu Nagai. In 2015, she received a full scholarship to the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music PhD programme. Under acclaimed pianist Awadagin Pratt, she majored in piano performance and minored in chamber music while concurrently assisting the art director in teaching.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Xu has given recitals and chamber music concerts in the United States, Italy and China, and participated in international music festivals.
