Hu has attained Konzertexamen from Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media and is now working as a teacher at the Piano Department of Central Conservatory of Music. He started studying the piano in Shanghai at a young age under Lu Shuting, Wang Yi’en and Zhao Xiaosheng. Later he moved to Beijing, where he studied under Yao Jingzhuang. After being admitted to Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, he studied with Mi Kyung Kim, Markus Groh and Bernd Goetzke. As a pianist, he has performed in Germany and China, and was invited to give a piano recital at the 5th May Festival in Tianjin in 2017.

He has won awards in several piano competitions at home and abroad, including First Prize in the Junior Professional category at the National Youth Piano Competition of the 3rd Kulangsu Piano Festival, and 2nd Prize at the International Piano Competition “Premio Franz Liszt” 2013 in Italy.
