Zhou is a National First Class Performer, a teacher at the Music School Affiliated to the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, the Conductor of the School’s Chinese Orchestra, the Vice-president of the Chinese Guzheng Society, the Director of the Beijing Huaxia Zhanwang Guzheng Art Centre and the Artistic Director of Jade Guzheng Ensemble.

Zhou is the winner of a number of national and international music competitions. He has recorded a teaching DVD and several albums, and published guzheng tutorial books and sheet music. He has also composed and arranged guzheng pieces, including Ode to the Land of Qin, Jiao Yulu and A Dream Back to Linan. Ode to the Land of Qin won the Outstanding Work Award at the 10^th Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music, Jiao Yulu and A Dream Back to Linan won the Silver and Bronze Awards at the 10^th Zhejiang Province Music and Dance Festival respectively.
