Zheng Rende

Zheng is a clarinetist and an educator with over 40 years of experience. After graduating from the Music Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music, he furthered his studies at the Conservatory, majoring in Clarinet Performance. In 1987, he received his Master’s degree and then joined the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, serving as the Principal Clarinet for more than 10 years.

In 1998, he was honoured as an “Artist with Good Morals and Skills in Shanghai”. In the same year, he started teaching clarinet and saxophone at the Music Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and gave lessons at the Conservatory. He shares his performing experience with students and many of them have won national and international awards. He was honoured twice as an Excellent Educator in 2000 and 2001, and received the 7th Ou Yongxi Outstanding Music Educator Award by the Department of Education, Science and Technology of the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China in 2005.
