Xu Lingzi

A National First Class Performer, Xu grew up in a musical environment and learnt to play the guzheng when she was a child. She graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and joined the faculty upon graduation. She then served as a soloist of the China National Traditional Orchestra. Since 1995, she has been teaching at the Department of Chinese Music of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

As a soloist, she has performed in the Golden Hall in Vienna, the Lincoln Center in New York and the Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore. Orchestras and conductors she has performed with include the China National Traditional Orchestra, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Macao Chinese Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, He Zhanhao, Chen Xieyang, Yan Huichang, Sato Kotaro, Pang Ka Pang and Lum Yan Sing. She was an adjunct lecturer at the Central Conservatory of Music, China Conservatory of Music and The University of Hong Kong. She has given talks in universities and conservatories and was the adjudicator of national competitions.
