Wu graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, majoring in Trumpet Performance. He is currently the Principal Trumpet of the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, and was the Principal Trumpet of the Shanghai Opera House, the Guest Principal Trumpet of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Tianjin Symphony Orchestra and the Xinjiang Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 2007, Wu was admitted to the University of Music Karlsruhe in Germany, and was invited to be the Guest Trumpet of Theater Heilbronn during his studies. Later, he studied at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart and received a Master’s degree in Trumpet Performance. During his studies in Stuttgart, he was invited to be the Guest Trumpet of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and held a solo recital upon graduation, receiving wide acclaim. He was a jury member in competitions, including the Youth Symphonic Band Competition by Shenzhen Association for Symphonic Bands and Hong Kong International Music Festival Music Competition (Shenzhen Region).
