Liu, born in Taiwan, studied at the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester and obtained a Master’s degree. He has been the Artistic Director of the Taiwan International Guitar Festival & Competition since 2012, and currently teaches at the Taiwan University of Arts.
A soloist and chamber musician, Liu, since 2009 has been the presenter of the radio programme Sound of The Guitar, which was nominated for the Non-pop Music Radio Programme Award in the 49th Radio Broadcast Golden Bell Awards. In recent years, he has been invited to perform, serve as an adjudicator or masterclass teacher in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Hungary, Austria, etc. In 2020, he was invited to perform at the 4th International Guitar Festival in Novgorod, Russia, and serve as a jury in the competition.
