Chang Shu-Jan

Chang obtained a Bachelor’s degree at the Taiwan College of Arts and a Master’s degree at the Chinese Culture University. She has served as the Concertmaster, and a gaohu and jinghu performer of the Taipei Chinese Orchestra, and currently teaches at the Taiwan University of Arts and the Taiwan Normal University.

In 1991, she won the first prize in the 3rd Taipei Chinese Instrumental Competition for Erhu. In 1992, she entered the Taipei Chinese Orchestra, with which she performed a wide range of music pieces from different periods and of different genres. She regularly gives premieres of new works or long-buried works, and performs around the world, including France, Germany, Italy, Israel and Japan. She has given solo recitals in Taiwan, and makes frequent appearances at the Hong Kong Chinese Arts Festival and Taipei Hu-qin Festival.
