Benita Tse-Leung

Dr. Benita Tse-Leung is Faculty Associate at Wright State University. Born in the United States, Tse moved to Hong Kong at an early age and began her music studies there. She later returned to the United States to continue her education in music, and obtained her B.M., M.M. and D.M.A. performance degrees at Temple University and the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati.

As duo pianists with her husband, Dr. Jackson Leung, Tse has been in recitals in the United States and other countries, and released a CD entitled Danzas in 2001. The piano duo has been recognised with first prize awards in the Teacher Duo Division at the Ohio Music Teachers Association / Graves Competition in 1996 and 1998. Most recently, Tse has embarked on a new collaboration with violinist Kun Dong. Their performances have been well received and critically acclaimed.

In 1989, Tse and her husband established a piano studio that was committed to teaching serious piano students. They have nurtured numerous prize-winning students at state, regional, and international competitions, including the Cincinnati World Piano Competition, the Stravinsky Awards International Piano Competition and Bartók-Kabalevsky International Competition. She has been serving as a U.S. representative for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music since 1991.

Tse has received the International Baccalaureate Educator of Distinction from the State of Michigan, the Excellence in Piano Teaching Award from the Carmel Klavier International Piano Competition in Indiana, and most recently, she was awarded winner of the 2019 Arts Educator Award from the Cincinnati Arts Association.
