people
Chinese culture has travelled a long way,
accumulating richness, depth and wonderful craftsmanship over the ages. Lou Kau
Mansion, the embodiment of traditional Chinese culture, will once more serve as
the venue for a multitude of beautiful folk handicrafts from Zhejiang Province,
bringing to audiences the ingenuity of Zhejian craftsmen while adding to the
allure of Lou Kau Mansion as a World Heritage site.
The folk art of Zhejiang Province, characteristic
of the regions south of the Yangtze River, has spawned generations of talent and
is acclaimed for the extraordinary skills and variety it produces. Renowned folk
artisans whose works are of the highest national calibre will join us in Macao
to demonstrate, among other skills, their ‘three famous carvings and one
sculpture’ (Qiantian Stone Carving, Boxwood Carving, Dongyang Wood Carving and
Ou Sculpture), ancient Yueqing Fine-streak Paper Carving and Changxing Zisha
Teapot, as well as Tree-root Carving and Bamboo Root Carving – all of which
require the employment of extraordinarily refined techniques. Visitors will
surely be mesmerised by these extraordinary demonstrations.
