Workshop oriented to instrumentalists, and vocalists willing to get familiar with jazz performance & improvisation, divided in two sessions, the first session focus on beginners/intermediate students and the second on advanced students and professionals. A brief introduction of personal music experience is required when registering.

Dr. João Marcos Gomes Mascarenhas (PhD) is a performer, composer/arranger/producer, and teacher/researcher of jazz/Brazilian/pop/Latin music. He holds a Bachelor of Music in jazz composition from Berklee College of Music (Boston-MA, 2001), a Master of Music in composition from University of Missouri-Columbia (Columbia-MO, 2006), and a PhD in Music Composition from Hong Kong University. He’s lived and worked in Brazil, USA, Europe and Asia with jazz legends Randy Brecker, Hendrik Meurkens, Eugene Pao, Tran Man Tuan, Angelita Li, Ted Lo, Jun Kung, Soler and others. Now based in Macau, Dr. Mascarenhas is developing several musical works oriented to performance and jazz education.
