Macau Jazz Promotion Association

Macau Jazz Promotion Association is a non-profit art association founded in 2010, aims to promote the development of Macao jazz music. It provides platform and opportunities by organizing high-level performances and activities for music lovers and professional musicians. Different activities were hosted to allow music exchange. The "Upbeat Jazz Big Band" was organized to perform at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.  Overseas jazz band was invited the first time to perform and hold master class in "WVC Trio+1 2011 China Tour Finals - Macau". Exchange with music students of UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. "Costa Modern Jazz Ensemble", a 12-piece band was organized to perform and debut 4 original works in "26th Macao International Music Festival" . Agreement was signed with Musician Guild Association to promote the cultural exchanges between Macao and Portugal. In December 2012, the very first event in series, "Macau Jazz Week" was held, musicians and guests were invited from America, France, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Macau, making the week a very successful debut. In 2013, members of MJPA played as live band for multi-media theatre “I Dreamt about Macau” in 24th Macau Art Festival. For continuous development of jazz music in Macau, several series activities are held constantly, including Jazz Summer Concert (2011), Macau Jazz Week (2012) and Zé Eduardo Workshop (2013). MJPA consists of young musicians and music lovers, the performing form varies from small combo to big band, and the latest is nonet (9-piece band).
