MIMF’s Street Piano Programme in Iao Hon and Areia Preta districts

16/12/2019

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the outreach activity “Street Piano Programme”, integrated in the 33rd Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), has been held in various districts and tourist attractions throughout the city, seeking to invite residents and tourists to play the pianos and convey the concept of “everyone is a musician”. The last stops of the programme will be the Leisure Area at Rua Quatro do Bairro Iao Hon and the Areia Preta Urban Park, starting from today until 29 December, from 10am to 8pm. All residents and tourists are welcome to participate.

Since September this year, the two hand-painted pianos featured in the programme have been stationed at various locations across the city, such as the Macau International Airport, Taipa Library, Mount Fortress Garden, Park of Dr. Carlos d' Assumpção, Rotunda de Carlos da Maia, Dr. Sun Yat Sen Municipal Park, Edifício Ip Heng in Seac Pai Van, Leisure Area of Edifício Wang Hoi & Wang Kin in Fai Chi Kei, and Taipa Houses, among others. The programme allows the residents to experience playing pianos or other musical instruments, thereby bringing them closer to music and spreading music into the life of the community.

The “Street Piano Programme” is held until 29 December 2019 and has now proceeded to the last stops located at the Leisure Area at Rua Quatro do Bairro Iao Hon and the Areia Preta Urban Park. The opening hours is from 10am to 8pm. All interested residents are welcome to showcase their talent at the two locations and create a different cultural landscape for the city with their diverse music performances.
