Portuguese Fado King Camané joins the Macao Chinese Orchestra to present a fusion of Chinese and Western music in the Arts and Cultural Festival between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries
the 5th “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries” has the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, and is organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, with the support of the Macao Government Tourism Office, the Municipal Affairs Bureau, TDM - Teledifusão de Macau, S.A., the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, and Air Macau Company Limited.
The “Camané Concert with the Macau Chinese Orchestra” is part of this edition of the Festival and will take place in the Grand Auditorium of the Macau Cultural Center at 8pm on 18 November (Saturday). Tickets are on sale now at the Macau Online Ticket Office.
Fado is the most representative traditional music in Portugal. The famous Portuguese fado singer Camané joins the Macau Chinese Orchestra in this concert conducted by Yao Shenshen, permanent conductor of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra. Camané will perform his songs adapted to Chinese musical instruments, resulting in a harmonious fusion of Chinese and Portuguese sounds.
Camané is the pioneer of the new generation of male fado singers in Portugal. He won the “Grande Noite do Fado” singing competition at age 13 and has sold more than 6 million albums to date. Considered the “King of Fado” in Portugal, Camané has performed concerts in the main cities of Portugal, Europe, America and Asia. Yao Shenshen is the permanent conductor of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra and deputy secretary-general of the Conducting Committee of the Chinese National Orchestra Society. He presented many important masterpieces to the public and won many national and municipal awards. For the first time, he was invited to collaborate with the Macau Chinese Orchestra, bringing new sounds to music fans.
Tickets for the “Camané Concert with the Macau Chinese Orchestra” are on sale now at the Macau Online Ticket Office. Ticket prices are 400, 300 and 200 Patacas, and each person can purchase a maximum of 4 tickets. Holders of a valid Macao ID Card, Macao Teacher Card, full-time Student Card, Senior Citizen Card and Disability Assessment Registration Card can get half-price discount. Each cardholder can use only one discounted ticket per show. CCM Friends, Friends of Macao Orchestra and Friends of Macao Chinese Orchestra are entitled to a 20% discount.
