Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the evaluation of works of the “Collective Exhibition of Macao Visual Arts 2020” has been recently completed. A total of 79 works (sets) were selected, including one winning work of the “Grand Prize of Jury Award”, ten winning works of the “Outstanding Artworks Award”, ten winning works of the “Special Artworks Award” and one winning work of the “Young Artist Award”. The event aims to promote local visual arts creation and encourage innovation, hoping to explore local talents in the field of visual arts.
On the day of the second evaluation, the jury conducted a rigorous selection. The evaluation was developed simultaneously by the local members of the jury, who evaluated the physical works in person, whereas the members of the jury from abroad conducted the evaluation of the works through a live session. The list of award-winning works is as follows: Grand Prize of Jury Award: Animus by Lo Hio Ieng; Outstanding Artworks Award: Review by Sit Ka Kit, Animus by Lo Hio Ieng; Infernal Valley by Lou Kam Ieng;﹟03︱UNTITLED 03 by Ricardo Filipe dos Santos Meireles; He Was Here by Ieong Wan Si; Self Portrait Wall-paper by Xie Yun; Measurement by Lam Im Peng; Epitome by Im Fong; St. Dominic’s Church by Cai Guo Jie; and Conjoined Existence by Ng Sang Kei; Special Artworks Award: Out of the World by Lam Sio Hong; Minus Landscapes by Kun Wang Tou; Everyone has Their Own Truth by Cheong Hoi I; Lost Space by Ieong Mei Cheng; Inclusion Series I by Wu Hin Long; Five Tastes: Bitter and Sweet Feelings by Kam Hio Kuan; Gathering by Lei Ka Ieng; Colourful Macao by Wang Fan; Mists of Macao by João Miguel Vieira Santos de Barros; and Tour by Che Chi Un; Young Artist Award: Review by Sit Ka Kit.
The adjudicating panel of this edition of the Collective Exhibition of Macao Visual Arts was composed of seven scholars and experts with professional background in the field of visual arts from home and abroad, namely Dean of School of Intermedia Art of China Academy of Art, Guan Huaibin; art critic and curator in China, Ma Rui Qing; Programme Leader of McNally School of Fine Arts of Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore, Professor Woo Yew Kong Ian; Professor of the Department of Painting of Tama Art University in Japan, Takehiko Kikuchi; Chairperson and Professor of the Department of Applied Arts of Fu-Jen Catholic University in Taiwan, Fong Tsai-Shin; Associate Professor of Academy of Visual Arts of Hong Kong Baptist University, Yu Wai Luen; and Distinguished Professor of Art, Doctoral Advisor, and Director of Centre for Arts and Design University of Macau, Lampo Leong. All the above-mentioned selected works will be showcased in 2021, and the return of unselected works will be announced later.
