The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is commissioning four new performing arts productions selected from a list of 52 projects. Submitted early this summer, the proposals have since undergone an extensive pitching procedure before a jury came up with the finalist works.

From 2021 through 2022, CCM’s stages will host a theatre creation for babies conceived by choreographer Choi Weng Teng and produced by CK Chan; grownups may enjoy a drama directed by Harry Ng while the mainstream audience will have a chance to attend a musical conceived by Mok Keng Fong, EK Wong, Annette Ng and Mabina Choi. This group of selected projects is completed with a piece to be staged by the MW Dance Theatre, a company run buy Tracy Wong and Mao Wei.

With a budget of nearly MOP 2,000,000 this commissioning project provides a platform for some of the city’s most prolific creators and artistic associations committed to showcase their works, boosting home-grown productions in the performing arts field. The Cultural Affairs Bureau remains vigilant on the pandemic latest developments and will implement adequate measures under the guidance of the Health Bureau in order to safely present its events.
