Macao Orchestra and MGM jointly present the concert “Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day: A Tribute to Nature”
featuring Beethoven’s Symphony at the Spectacle

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, the Macao Orchestra, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will join hands with MGM to present the concert “Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day: A Tribute to Nature” on 29 and 30 August, at 2:30pm, at the Spectacle of MGM Cotai, featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op.68, “Pastoral”. Admission is free and all music aficionados are welcome.

The concert offers a special symphonic experience to the audience through classical music, innovative technology and modern architecture. Immersed in the classical music which melodiously illustrates man’s unity with nature, the audience will be in awe of the city’s natural beauty and unite its vision of a harmonious co-existence of mankind and nature. MGM Cotai will also arrange various activities on 29 and 30 August, including the “Guided Tour for Earth Day X Nature’s Art”, the “Moss Ball Planting Workshop” and the “Symphony Afternoon Tea”. The Macao Orchestra has resumed its performances in July, and has actively presented various classical music performances. During the summer vacation from July to August, the “Summer Episodes” concert series was launched, including the concerts “Classical Express – Back for Fun” which was well received by young audiences, “Beethoven: an Evening of Chamber Music”, “Beethoven Symphony No. 3” and “The Encounter of Beethoven and Haydn”. In a total of 6 concerts, nearly 3,000 registrations were received, of which nearly 1,000 people successfully registered and enjoyed the concerts. In addition, the Macao Orchestra and the Macao Science Centre jointly presented the concerts “Science and Music Festival – Night Parade of the Animals”, which received an overwhelming response from the public. With the additional performances, a total of 6 concerts were held. Nearly 800 applications were received, of which 280 applicants were successfully selected and enjoyed the concerts.

The Macao Orchestra will present the “OM Sept. Music Dates” concert series in September, bringing excellent performances to welcome the new 2020-21 season.
