The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is launching a new edition of “ARTmusing Summer”, bringing over 350 events that will run from late June to the end of August. Specially designed to inspire babies, kids and grown-ups, this series enchants over a 15,000 attendance amongst shows, screenings and workshops.

01.07-27.08.2017-------------------------------------------ARTmusing Summer Workshops
Introducing a myriad of artistic categories through a series of dynamic workshops hosted by artists and professionals from all over the world, CCM has lined up an array of activities for all ages, from toddlers and youth to parents and practitioners. Conceived to trigger creativity and unveil hidden skills, the series brings something for everyone, from animation, puppetry and story-telling to clowning, make-up, physical movement and a cappela singing. Besides the family oriented sessions, the Practitioner Workshops will bring in a more professional approach to the performing arts including sessions on theatrical photography, props making complemented by theatre music design and acting.

Programmes for All

28.06-02.07.2017---------------------------------------------------------------Rain (Australia)
Responding to the skies’ gentle drizzle, Australia’s Drop Bear Theatre honours and celebrates new lives. This performance and installation immerses grownups and their littlest ones in an intimate, mindful adventure. Specially created for babes-in-arms and crawlers, Rain is a movement, music and sensorial performance introduced by a couple of actors and a cellist on a soothing, hypnotic atmosphere. Infants will be mesmerized and eager to explore a magic world with their tiny hands and feet, eyes wide open in wonder. A moment that may well be the defining tone for a vibrant life within the amazing realm of the performing arts.

28-30.07.2017-----------------------------------------------------Slapdash Galaxy (Australia)
Dedicated to innovative, quirky performances for kids and their families, the Australian troupe Bunk Puppets brings us the hit “Slapdash Galaxy”, a show where a solo performer puts together all his wizardry to transform old boxes, bubble wrap, drinking straws, tennis balls, ping pong bats and used household items to tear open the audience’s imagination. An adventure that follows brothers Sam and Junior on their journey through the stars, on the craziest shadow puppet show ever.

03-06.08.2017-----------------------------------------------------------------Puzzle (Lithuania)
Toddlers and very young children will be enraptured by the liveliness of “Puzzle”, a colourful dance piece brought by Lithuania’s Dansema Dance Theatre to light the fuse of our infants’ imagination. Exploring a delightful world of familiar forms, from geometric shapes to fruits, vegetables and flowers, the performers will dance, bounce and move in their vibrant costumes. An unforgettable first time experience for both inquisitive babies and their new adventurous parents.

Yong Cinema on screen

04-06.08 & 25-27.08.2017--------------------ARTmusing Film Carnival (International)
The “ARTmusing Film Carnival” presents eight international films specially curated for younger audiences. From children with their parents to teens, there is a screening for everyone. Grownups will share a great time with their little ones watching a range of motion pictures, from creative animations and documentaries on minorities to heartwarming feature stories, all set to bring life on the big screen.

10-13.08.2017----------------------------------------------Echoes of our Childhood (Macao)
Young kids will wander through a magical place full of touching memories, from toys and old text books to cassette recorders and games, living through their parents’ nostalgic yesteryears. “Echoes of our Childhood” merges dance, sound effects and installation, offering the whole family something closer to a real life adventure rather than a dance theatre play. Responding to beeps and noises, dancers will move amongst the audience, mesmerized by the ‘antique’ gadgets.

11-13.08.2017------------------------------------------------The Little Match Girl (England)
Celebrated director and choreographer Arthur Pita conceived a dance theatre adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Match Girl”, a classic story that will spread its magic at CCM for the very first time. Touching and delightful, the piece immerses the audience into a young girl’s hopes and dreams, beautifully unveiled through dance, singing and original music performed live on stage. In an icy Christmas Eve, a little girl paces the emptying streets, desperately trying to sell her matches. Cold, hungry and with only one final match flame to keep her warm, she has a vision of her beloved grandmother taking her into the night sky, away from trouble, towards the shining moon.

27.08.2017---------------------------------------------------------------------ARTmusing Fun
This vibrant summer will come to a close on a high note with ARTmusing Fun, a party that will gather thousands of children and parents at CCM. The grand finale will bring a variety of colourful plays and creative arts and crafts to celebrate the endless art universe.

Tickets for all “ARTmusing Summer” programmes will be on sale from May 26 at CCM’s box office and Macao Ticketing Network outlets available at various discounts.
