Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and co-organised by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, the “Tap Siac Craft Market” is held from 21 to 23 April and from 28 to 30 April for two consecutive weekends (Friday to Sunday), at Tap Siac Square, featuring a variety of cultural and creative products from the local community and seven neighbouring areas. In addition, nearly 40 workshops and several music performances and the 2nd Award Ceremony and Concert of the Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums will be held. All are welcome to participate and enjoy the fun of creative works and the lively atmosphere of the event.
The “Tap Siac Craft Market” is held from 5pm to 10pm. The opening ceremony was held on 21 April, at 6 pm at Tap Siac Square and was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leung Hio Ming; the Vice President of the Committee of Cultural Industries, Hsu Hsiu-Chu; the member of the Administrative Committee of the Cultural Industries Fund, Chu Miu Lai; the Head of Division for Support and Collaboration of Associations of the Department of Civic Affairs and Consultation of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Au Chan Weng; the Project Manager of The Life Guangzhou, Sarah Nie; the representative of CAMPOBAG in Taiwan, Lasa Chang; the Supervisor of the Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, Wong Mei Ling; and the representative of Artroad in Korea, Ms. Duri Lee. In addition, the 2nd Award Ceremony and Concert of the Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums was held after the opening ceremony. The seven beneficiaries of the 2016 Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums was honoured at the Award Ceremony. The beneficiaries of the subsidised albums, including Chan Kai Ho, Lei Ka Man, Sketch, Catalyser and Vivian Chan, presented live performance of songs selected from the subsidised albums. The “Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums” aims to support beneficiaries on the production, cover design and promotion of the original song albums. All residents are welcome to learn about the development of original music and support local music producers.
In addition to the participation of local cultural and creative entities, cultural and creative practitioners from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Korea have also been invited in the “Tap Siac Craft Market” over the years. In the meantime, over 40 percent of booths are from Macao in each edition. Detailed statistics are available at the Macao Cultural and Creative Industries Website. This year’s Tap Siac Craft Market features 172 booths from Macao, 60 booths from Mainland China, 80 booths from Hong Kong, 40 booths from Taiwan, 24 booths from Malaysia, 16 booths from Singapore, and 8 booths from Korea. The Craft Market features thousands of distinctive and creative products, including accessories, fashion design, clothing, drawings, paintings, carvings, leather products, home furnishings, creative potted plants, natural handmade products, eco-friendly products, as well as creative food and beverages; of which a few emerging brands with unique styles will also be showcased. Furthermore, nearly 40 workshops, will be held for the public to experience the fun of creativity. The Craft Market features a “Craft Market Concert” presenting local and foreign original music, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
Inaugurated in 2008, the “Tap Siac Craft Market” is Macao’s first large-scale integrated platform for display and sale of cultural and creative products, also featuring original music performances. Every year the event attracts participants from Macao and other regions, and it has been well-received by both residents and tourists since its inception.
