Jointly organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) of Macao, the Film Administration of Guangdong Province, Create Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Film Development Council, in cooperation with the Guangdong Motion Picture Industry Association and the Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association, the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film Script Writing and Financing Workshop 2019” was held on 26 and 27 August in Hong Kong. Five film project teams from Macao participated in the workshop.

In order to allow the participating film project teams to have adequate preparation for the 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film Production Investment and Trade Fair (hereafter referred to as “the Fair”), to be held in Macao in September this year, the organizers from the three regions jointly organized the workshop, in which a total of 15 film project teams from the three regions rehearsed their presentations, with the guidance and advice of a team of industry professionals in various aspects including project creativity, production budget, market prediction and selling point analysis. The team of instructors included Executive Vice President of Media Asia Film, Chu Yam-Chi; Assistant Vice President of Drama Production at ViuTV, Lam Suk-Yin; Senior Vice President of FOX Networks Group Asia, Cora Yim; and the director of Men on the Dragon and lecturer of the School of Film and Television at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Chan Wing Sun. This workshop also included sessions on financing arrangements, exchange activities, and sharing information of film release in China and abroad, as well as data and resources for film industry development in the Greater Bay Area.

The opening ceremony of the workshop was attended by the Head of the Department for Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries of IC, Ho Hong Pan; the Assistant Head of Create Hong Kong, Mak Sing Hei; and the Secretary General of the Guangdong Motion Picture Industry Association, Zheng Dawei. The production teams of the selected five local film projects selected to participate in the Fair, namely One Night in Macao by Lou Ka Hou, At Least Not Today by Io Lou Ian, Midnight Taxi by Hoi Kuok Meng, Dreaming Girl by Vong Tin Leong and The Fortune Tower by Wong Teng Teng, joined the workshop in Hong Kong.

The 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film Production Investment and Trade Fair will be held in Macao on 10 and 11 September this year to provide film investors and production teams from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao a platform for exchange and cooperation, thus facilitating the integration and development of the film industries in the three regions. The “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film Script Writing and Financing Workshop 2019” is also one of the annual collaboration activities  between the film industries.
