Xuanhan Xu, a rising cello performer, joined hands with the conductor Zheng Xiaoying to stage her debut at the National Centre for the Performing Arts at the age of thirteen. In 2020, at the age of 16, she won the first prize in the Pablo Casals International Award for Young Cellists, and was hailed as a genius by the circle of Chinese classical music. In this concert, under the baton of the Macao Orchestra’s music director, Lu Jia, she will present the Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33 by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, which is elegant and full of bright and brisk French flavour. Moreover, the Macao Orchestra will perform the Overture to “The Marriage of Figaro” and Symphony No. 39 in E-flat Major, K. 543 by W. Amadeus Mozart, bringing a wonderful and memorable night for music aficionados.
