Supplementary Information Can Be Submitted Before April 28

The 24th Macao Young Musician Competition (MYMC) will be held from June 17 to July 11. The registration process ended yesterday. The Competition has received 487 applications, bringing together over 700 contestants. The number of applicants has slightly increased compared to that of 2004.

In order to run the competition smoothly, the Cultural Affairs Bureau announces that all contestants must use original versions of music notations. Copy versions are against the law and contestants will be disqualified from the competition. Moreover, catalogues indicating the selling places of original music notations are available in the Central Library and the Sir Robert Ho Tung Library. The compulsory pieces for the different categories are also provided for reference. Participants can approach the two libraries for more information.

For those who have submitted the application forms, any supplementary information must be submitted to the Cultural Affairs Bureau during office hours before 28 April 2006. The performance order will be decided randomly by a computer and all participants have to follow the order throughout the competition unless in exceptional circumstances. The order for performance will be posted on the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s website on June 5. The organizer will also notify each participant by post.
