The tickets for the 32nd Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), went on sale on 5 August (Sunday). Interested members of the public waited at different ticket offices to purchase tickets. Over 5,000 tickets were sold by 7:00pm on the first day of ticket sales, and the percentage of the ticket sales for most of the shows were more than 50 %.
This edition of the MIMF will be held from 28 September to 28 October, with the theme “Enjoy – The Moment in music”, and offers 16 programmes in a total of 22 excellent performances, hoping that the audience will be able to enjoy the moment and feel joy and harmony through music. On the first day of sales, tickets for Portugal Meets Spain were sold out; tickets for the Hagen Quartet, Queen of Muses and Electronic Sparkswere almost sold out. Il Signor Bruschino, Tenebrae Responsories and Los Romero were also popular among music fans.
The MIMF is an annual cultural event for which music aficionados have been earnestly waiting. This edition offers wonderful programmes that cannot be missed. Gaetano Donizetti’s opera in two acts, L’Elisir D’amore, produced by the Zurich Opera House, will demonstrate the magic of love through magnificent music; the Macao Orchestra and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra will jointly present Anton Bruckner’s magnum opus, the Symphony No. 8 in C Minor, which deeply touches humans’ feelings and inspirations; internationally celebrated Hagen Quartet will demonstrate its virtuosity and seamless rapport; Jamaican jazz pianist Monty Alexander will showcase his talent in the concert A Life in Jazz, pervading the atmosphere with a passionate and lively jazz flavour; the Camerata Salzburg, hailing from Mozart’s hometown and well-known French violinist Renaud Capuçon will bring the audience the most authentic Vienna classical music, revealing the fantastic dialogue between the soloist and the orchestra. The Staatskapelle Dresden, with a history of over 400 years, under the baton of famous conductor Christian Thielemann, will present the most authentic German Romantic music, Schumann’s complete symphonies. Besides, other programmes like Bravo Macao!, Cantonese Rhyme Along the Silk Road, António Meneses and Nostalgic Lane are certainly not to be missed. The public is advised to purchase their tickets as soon as possible as tickets are limited.
An early bird discount of 30%, subject to certain criteria, is available from now on until 12 August, and a 20% discount will be offered from 13 August onwards. Holders of BOC Credit Card or BOC Card may also enjoy a 30% discount on tickets for the special programmes L’Elisir d’Amore and Christian Thielemann and Staatskapelle Dresden and holders of designated credit cards can enjoy a 20% off on other programmes. A 50% discount will be offered to holders of Macao Senior Citizen Card or Disability Assessment Registration Card.
