MIMF ticket sales reached 90%

The 29th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, came to a close on 1 November, featuring, throughout a month, 23 remarkable shows with over 60 performances and outreach activities. 90% of MIMF tickets were sold.

On the occasion of the 29th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), the Macao S.A.R. Government invited consuls of various countries accredited in Hong Kong and Macao to participate in a tour organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) on 24 October 2015. The delegation visited Cinematheque．Passion, then to the Woodcraft Works of Master Lu Ban Exhibition Room and to the Heritage Exhibition of a Traditional Pawnshop Business. After that, they headed to Mount Fortress where one of the MIMF programme, the concert “O-Kai Singers and Charatay” was held. They were deeply impressed by the diversified local culture.

Faust revives French opera’s golden age

The 29th Macao International Music Festival continues to present brilliant performances. Icelandic musician Ólafur Arnalds presents his first performance in Macao that is highly anticipated by audience; while renowned opera Faust brings the audience to the golden age of French opera. Ólafur Arnalds holds a concert at 8pm on 29 October, Thursday, in the Macao Cultural Centre Small Auditorium. This talented musician’s works blend classical, pop and ambient/electronica influences, creating unique compositions through this genre-crossing technique. Besides, being as the Festival’s closing performance, the opera Faust is to be held for three consecutive evenings, between 30 October and 1 November, at 7:30pm, in the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. Interpreted by the Macao Orchestra with its Principal Conductor Lü Jia, together with the Coro Lirico Siciliano and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, it brings the audience to the golden age of French opera.

Since the opening of the 29th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), several remarkable performances have moved audiences. Next week, the Festival presents outstanding Chinese and western music concerts, among which are two consecutive concerts by renowned violinist Gidon Kremer together with the chamber music ensemble Kremerata Baltica, founded by the musician.

MIMF invites local cultural and creative entity to design ‘Postcards to the Future’ in celebration of its imminent 30^th edition

In order to promote the development of the cultural and creative industries, the 29th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, has specially invited local cultural and creative entity GUGUMELO Studio to design a series of ‘Gugumelo x 29FIMM’ illustrated products about ‘Soundmazing’, the theme of this year’s Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), thus demonstrating the sparkle of the Festival. The Bureau will simultaneously release the activity ‘Postcards to the Future’ to celebrate the imminent 30th anniversary of the MIMF in advance with music lovers.

Second week of 29^th Macao International Music Festival features stupendous concerts

The 29th Macao International Music Festival, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, concludes its second week with two concerts by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (United Kingdom), entitled Symphony No. 9 "The Great" and Enigma Variations on 16 and 17 October at 8:00pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium, respectively, and Danças Ocultas and Pedro Moutinho (Portugal), on 16 October at 8:00pm at Mount Fortress. On 12 and 13 October, the Festival presents Masks and Faces and New Seasons, by Gidon Kremer with Kremerata Baltica, at 8:00pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium, respectively.

The opening ceremony of the 29th Macao International Music Festival, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, started at 7:40pm on 4 October at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium, followed by the opening concert Gustav Mahler - Symphony No. 3, which marks the opening of this year’s MIMF.

The 29th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be officially inaugurated on Sunday, 4 October, at the Macao Cultural Centre lobby, at 7:40pm. Ticket holders for the opening concert are invited to attend. The opening concert, Gustav Mahler － Symphony No. 3, lead by Macao Orchestra’s Principal Conductor, Lü Jia, features world-renowned mezzo-soprano Charlotte Hellekant, the Macao Orchestra, the China NCPA Orchestra and Choir and the Macao Youth Choir.

Young local musicians reveal their talent

In order to encourage local talents and prepare the stars of the future, the Cultural Affairs Bureau organizes, as a part of the 29th Macao International Music Festival, two concerts titled “Bravo Macau”, to be held on 25 and 26 September (Friday and Saturday), at the Dom Pedro V Theatre. The concerts feature performances by local young musicians, namely violinist Sophia Feinga Su, saxophonist Hugo Loi, pianist Ray Long and violist Katy Ho.

The 29th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), opens on 4 October (Friday), with the concert Gustav Mahler - Symphony No. 3, by the Macao Orchestra, the China NCPA Orchestra and Choir and the Macao Youth Choir, at 8:00pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. The opening ceremony of the event will be held at 7:40pm in the same venue and all citizens are welcome to attend.

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the 29th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) will present two exciting Chinese music performances, Jing • Qi • Shen by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, and Xian Xinghai and Liu Tianhua Commemorative Concert – 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Anti-Japanese Resistance War, on Tuesday 6 October and Thursday 15 October, at 8:00pm at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium, respectively. Featuring a number of renowned conductors and soloists, these are concerts that folk music fans will not want to miss.

First-Day Ticket Sales of MIMF Satisfactory

Tickets for the 29th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) have been for sale since 23 August. Many people excitedly waited at different ticket offices to buy the tickets. Ticket sales were ideal with about 7,000 sold by 7:00pm on 23 August.

The 29th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) not only features captivating musical performances but also offers an outreach programme divided into six categories, including some activities taking place before the Festival’s official opening, such as the first session of the community activity “Music Cafe” on 5 September and a series of pre-opening talks. During the MIMF period, a series of master classes, workshops, backstage tours and children’s corners will be personally led by music professionals, allowing participants to, through an exchange of ideas, explore in depth the world of music.
