Silver Jubilee Slogan Competition

1. Introduction

Inaugurated in 1987, the Macao International Music Festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Over the past quarter century the Festival has undergone continual development in terms of scale and quality of programming, to emerge as an international cultural brand unique to Macao and occupying an enviable position in the artistic circles of the Asian continent. With the arrival this year of the Festival’s Silver Jubilee, the Cultural Affairs Bureau has organised a Slogan Competition, inviting Macao citizens to devise a phrase for the Festival that will remember past achievements, embrace the splendour of the current moment and look forward to the future.

2. Application Period

From now until 27th June, 2011.

3. Eligibility

Open to all interested Macao citizens. No age limit.

4. Application Methods

Participants may submit their entry along with a completed application form via one of the following options:

(i) In person: Participants may submit entries at the reception desk of the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building, located at Praça do Tap Siac, during office hours (9:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday, closed on public holidays).

(ii) By post: Participants may post entries to the Special Projects Division, Cultural Affairs Bureau, Praça do Tap Siac. Please indicate “Entry for 25th Macao International Music Festival – Silver Jubilee Slogan Competition” on the envelope. Acceptance subject to postmark deadline.

(iii) By email: Participants may email entries to fimm@icm.gov.mo. Acceptance subject to email delivery time. Please indicate “Entry for 25th Macao International Music Festival – Silver Jubilee Slogan Competition” in the subject of the email.

5. Entry Requirements

(i) All entries must be submitted in Chinese, Portuguese or English.

(ii) No restriction on break of phrases/sentences, style, text layout or number of words.

(iii) All entries shall be computer-typed in a clear font and, when applications are made in person or by post, printed on standard white A4 paper.

(iv) Each entry must be submitted together with an application form.

6. Slogan Recommendations

The primary criteria for a slogan are catchiness, ease of recall, ease of understanding, elegance, popularism, refinement and pertinence. A slogan should embrace the artistic horizons and status of the Macao International Music Festival.

7. Prizes

The competition offers a single Gold Prize and five Complementary Prizes. The Gold Prize slogan will be given the opportunity to be adopted by the 25th Macao International Music Festival.

(i) Gold Prize MOP 5,000 Bank Gift Voucher with Certificate
(ii) Complementary Prizes MOP 500 Bank Gift Voucher with Certificate

8. Netizens Prize

All eligible entries will be posted on the Cultural Affairs Bureau website and subjected to a public vote from 30th June to 15th July. The netizens who cast their vote for the eventual Gold Prize winner will be eligible to win a MOP 300 Bank Gift Voucher with a souvenir in a lucky draw. A total of five winners will be drawn.

9. Notes

  1. No entries will be returned once submitted.
  2. All personal particulars will be used for this competition only and will be kept strictly confidential.
  3. The organiser is entitled to the copyright of all awarded works and reserves the right to use such works for any advertising and promotional purposes.
  4. All entries shall abide by the laws of the MSAR Government. Any works found to contain aggressive, provocative or insulting words or phrases, or names or promotion of certain brands, or any content not consistent with the image of the Macao International Music Festival will be disqualified from the Competition without notice.
  5. The organiser reserves the right to leave the award vacant or to terminate the award based on the quality of entries.
  6. The organiser will notify award-winners by telephone.
  7. For the purpose of fair and impartial judgement, all staff members of the Cultural Affairs Bureau and organisations under the auspices of the Bureau and their family members are ineligible to participate in the Competition.
  8. The organiser reserves the right to final decision and interpretation of the Competition.
