Francesc Bonnín

Francesc Bonnín studied choral and orchestral conducting with maestros H. Rilling, P. Cao, L. Kovacs and Romano Gandolfi, and obtained his Master degree in operatic choral conducting at the Liceu in Barcelona. He then studied orchestral and opera conducting with Renato Palumbo, with whom he has been collaborating since 1995. His recorded repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary. 
 
He currently works at the Teatro Principal de Palma in Spain as assistant to the music director, and has conducted renowned artists such as Joan Pons, Fiorenza Cossoto, Ivo Vinco, Dolora Zajick, Carlos Chausson, Carlos Álvarez, Matteo Manuguerra, Aprile Millo, Elena Obratzova, Robert Dean Smith, Kurt Rydl, Hartmut Welker, and Su Patchell.  
 
From 1995 to 1999 he worked at the Festival d’Opera d' Avenches in Switzerland as musical assistant for productions of Aida, Carmen, La Traviata, La Bohème, Turandot, and Nabucco, working with conductors Angelo Cavallaro, John Neschling, Janos Acs, Paleschi, Rico Saccani, and Romano Gandolfi. He also worked with the Orchestra and Chorus of Beijing’s Chinese National Opera and with the Beijing Symphonic Choir in productions of Un ballo in Maschera, Aida, and Der Fliegende Holländer. In 2000, maestro Bonnín was invited by the Chinese National Opera for its New Year Concert. 
He was appointed Musical and Artistic Director of the Fundació Teatre Principal de Palma in 2001, where he has conducted L'Italiana in Algieri and La Bohème, with Ines Salazar, Gustavo Porta, Linda Campanella and Marcin Bronikovski.
