New Directing on Classic - Lecture-Workshop with Yana Ross

The contemporary Eastern European theatre has stormed the Euro-American theatre world with its distinct aesthetics and style in recent years, and thus its influence should not be overlooked! This lecture-workshop is led by the currently most sought-after Latvian theatre director Yana Ross, who is going to share her new directing methods and devising techniques for adapting classical texts by playwrights like Chekhov. Instructor
Yana Ross was born in Latvia and acquired her Master of Fine Arts degree from the Yale School of Art in the United States. She is active in various arts festivals in America and Europe, and has worked with different famous theatres of Europe, such as the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre, the Volksbühne of Berlin, Germany, and the TR Warszawa of Poland. In 2016, Yana Ross won the Best Director Award at the Kontakt International Theatre Festival in Toruń with multiple nominations. Yana Ross is famous of adapting classical Russian dramas and her powerful directing style is highly acclaimed.
