The “Echoes of Antiquity: an Exhibition on the Chinese Guqin”, co-organized by the Cultural Institute and the Hong Kong Deyin Qin Society, is now located on the third floor of the Macao Museum. It presents to the public several precious guqin-related objects dating from the Northern Song Dynasty to Republican China.

The Australian sensation Tap Dogs are currently taking the world by storm with their unprecedented tap show that combines the strength and power of male workmen with the precision and talent of tap dancing. For two consecutive evenings (March 10, 11), the talented and energetic Dogs will tap into the Macao Cultural Centre’s Grand Auditorium to light up the Macao Arts Festival with excitement.

The “Macao Cultural Heritage” exhibition and the “Chinese Treasures” exhibition were two accomplishments in the recent Macao Arts Festival. This year, on March 9, the Cultural Institute will continue to promote art cultures in Macao by organizing the “China and the West: Cultural Influence and Innovation I” Exhibition, in which 198 visual works from over a hundred artists will be displayed.

| Tap Dogs reinvent Fred Astaire’s art form |

It’s a big step from Fred Astaire to Tap Dogs. Tap is still the order of the day, but Australian Dein Perry and director Nigel Triffitt began a dance revolution in the mid 1990’s, and Perry went on to become the only choreographer to win the Olivier Prize two years running.

This year’s Macau Arts Festival has 19 programs including an international Video Art Cycle and two art exhibitions, and a total of 25 performances from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Portugal Germany, Australia, U.S.A., Indonesia in addition to Macau.
