Shigeo Fukuda

Born in Tokyo, 1932. Graduated from Design dep. of Tokyo National Univ. of Fine Arts and Music in 1956. His Awards include Gold prize at Int’l Poster Biennale Warsaw in 1972; 1st Prize at Moscow Int’l Poster Biennale in 1985; Grand Prix at UNESCO Int’l Poster Exhibition and Grand Prix at Helsinki Int’l Poster Biennale in 1995; others such as Int’l Poster Biennale Bruno and Int’l Poster Biennale Lahti; and also, Education Minister’s Art Encouragement Prize for Newcomer in 1976; Mainichi Art Award in 1986; and Hall of Fame from N.Y. ADC in 1987. Held one-man shows in Museum of Modern Art, Quimper in 1991; the Poster Museum in Warsaw and the Museum of Modern Art, Toyama 1995; The National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo in 1997. Guest professor at Tokyo National Univ. of Fine Arts and Music. President of JAGDA. Past Vice-president of ICOGRADA. Member of Tokyo ADC, Royal Designers of Industry and AGI.
