Film “Years of Macau” screened at the “Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Film Festival” session of the China Film Golden Rooster Awards Ceremony

The 33rd China Film Golden Rooster Awards Ceremony was held from 25 to 28 November in Xiamen, in Fujian Province. The film “Years of Macau”, produced by the young Macao director Tracy Choi, was screened at the “Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Film Festival” session. A delegation of representatives from the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR and the local film industry attended the Film Festival in Xiamen.

Established in 1981, the China Film Golden Rooster Awards are awards for prestigious and professional films. Both the China Film Golden Rooster and the Hundred Flowers Awards are generally called the national double film awards. This edition of the Golden Rooster Awards Ceremony featured the “Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Film Festival” session, and the local film “Years of Macau”, a feature film of nine 10-minute stories, was screened at the Festival. Nine different stories set in one of the years after Macao’s Return to the Motherland were filmed by different young Macao directors from different backgrounds, presenting from local sentiments to immigrant perspectives and the feelings of a foreigner, with vivid characters that reflect the lives and experiences of Macao people in the past 20 years after the Return.

The Macao delegation was led by the Head of the Department for Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Ho Hong Pan. Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Liu Wei, served as the adviser of the delegation. Members of the delegation included the President of the Macau Motion Picture Industry Association, Chong Cho Kio; the President of the Macau Film and Television Culture and Creative Association, Sun Yuan; the Producer of the film “Years of Macau”, Tracy Choi; the Secretary General of Macau Motion Picture Industry Association, Wong Lok Ian and the General Director of Macao Media Advancement Association, Chan Pui Nan. During the Film Festival, the delegation had exchanges with the film industries from various places to promote Macao’s film works.
