The Tap Seac Gallery and the Exhibitions Gallery and the Nostalgic House of the Taipa Houses, under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) have reopened to the public. In order to “fight the pandemic with culture” and give the public more time to appreciate local artists’ fine works, IC has extended the “Red December – Exhibition of Carlos Marreiros” and the “Exhibition of Works by Tam Chek Wun and Lao Chon Hong, Artists Winning the Grand Prize of the Jury Award of the Collective Exhibition of Macao Artists 2017” to 30 April and 3 May, respectively.
The “Red December – Exhibition of Carlos Marreiros”, held at the Tap Seac Gallery, now extended to 30 April, showcases famed local artist Carlos Marreiros’ latest large-scale artwork “Red December” and a series of paintings from his sketchbooks, allowing viewers to traverse his creative world featuring a blend of Chinese and Western cultures. The “Exhibition of Works by Tam Chek Wun and Lao Chon Hong, winners of the Grand Prize of the Jury Award of the Collective Exhibition of Macao Artists 2017”, held at the Exhibitions Gallery and the Nostalgic House of the Taipa Houses and extended to 3 May, showcases a total of 36 pieces (sets) of paintings by the two local artists. Of the exhibits, 18 pieces (sets) of works are by Tam Chek Wun and represent precipitous mountains shrouded in clouds and mist also portraying the relaxed cityscape of Macao, while the other 18 pieces (sets) by Lao Chon Hong subtly invite viewers to contemplate life and its sense.
To further prevent the spread of the pandemic, cleaning and disinfection procedures have been reinforced in these cultural facilities; upon entry, all viewers are required to wear a face mask, undergo body temperature checks, present their Personal Health Declaration and cooperate with crowd control measures. While on the premises viewing the exhibitions, viewers should maintain a distance of at least 1 meter from one another, avoid gathering in groups, and practise good personal and environmental hygiene.
The Tap Seac Gallery is open daily from 10am to 7pm; the Exhibitions Gallery and the Nostalgic House of the Taipa Houses are also open from 10am to 7pm and are closed on Mondays.
