Most cultural facilities under the Cultural Affairs Bureau reopen to the public

After typhoon Mangkhut, the Cultural Affairs Bureau carried out inspection and cleaning works of the cultural facilities including heritage sites, public libraries, exhibition and performance venues. Most facilities will reopen to the public tomorrow (19 September).

Cultural facilities which will resume regular services tomorrow include: Macao Cultural Centre, Mandarin’s House, Lou Kau Mansion, Ruins of St. Pauls, Na Tcha Exhibition Room, General Ye Ting’s House, Treasure of Sacred Art at St. Dominic's Church, Guia Military Tunnels, Former Chong Sai Pharmacy, Patane Night Watch House, Archives of Macao, Dom Pedro V Theatre, Macao Museum, Jao Tsung-I Academy, Handover Gifts Museum of Macao, Treasure of Sacred Art of St. Joseph’s Seminary, Old Court Building, Mount Fortress Corridor, Macao Tea Culture House, Museum of Taipa and Coloane, Taipa Houses, Mount Fortress Garden, Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre, shops at Anim’Arte NAM VAN, Macao Museum of Art, Heritage Exhibition of a Traditional Pawnshop Business, Macao Fashion Gallery and Cinematheque.Passion.

Public libraries which will resume services tomorrow include: Macao Central Library, Sir Robert Ho Tung Library, I.A.C.M. Building Library, S. Lourenço Library, Ilha Verde Library, Mong Há Library, Library in Ho Yin Garden, Taipa Library, Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Taipa and Coloane Library. The Red Market Library will resume operation from 2pm tomorrow.

The Patane Library and Woodcraft Works of Master Lu Ban Exhibition Room do not meet the conditions for reopening as the distribution board and exhibition lighting were affected by flooding. Due to the closing of the gardens, the reopening date of the Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Municipal Park, Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Luís de Camões Garden, Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Areia Preta Urban Park and Wong Ieng Kuan Children's Library in Areia Preta Urban Park will be announced in due course. Due to the tilting of the typhoon signpost at the Guia Fortress, the responsible department will follow up accordingly. In consideration of the public safety, the Guia Foretress does not meet the conditions for reopening.
