Date of publication: 31/07/2018
Type: ---

The 15th issue of Books and the City, a quarterly by the Macao Public Library under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is now available for free collection. In view of the upcoming 60th anniversary of the Sir Robert Ho Tung Library, the feature of this issue provides a clear overview of the Library’s history and dedicates itself as a ‘love letter’ to the Library, featuring precious memories of all those years recalled from different perspectives to take readers on a journey through the Library’s past.

In this issue, the column ‘Library Handbook’ covers one of the thematic talks of the Macao Library Week 2018 as well as an interview with the speaker, local writer Eric Chau, who shared his experience in literary creation. ‘Library Portrait’ and ‘Library Wonder Why’ give readers a peek into the rare book collection and rare book digitisation project of the Chinese Ancient Books Chamber of the Sir Robert Ho Tung Library. In the column ‘Author’s Say’, local writer Susanna Un is invited to talk about her works and shares certain moments of her literary creation journey. ‘New Launch’ introduces a rich variety of new arrivals, including books, movies, music and magazines. This issue also features ten brief but insightful book reviews in Chinese, Portuguese and English.

A total of 3,000 copies of Books and the City were distributed free of charge at all libraries under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, tertiary institutions, Tap Seac Gallery, bookstores as well as cultural and art spaces in Macao. The online versions of the past 14 issues are available on the Macao Public Library website at www.library.gov.mo.
