Cultural Affairs Bureau launches Picturesque Beauty of the Landscape - Aerial Photographs of Macao by Chan Hin Io and hosts an aerial video sharing session

The book launch ceremony of Picturesque Beauty of the Landscape - Aerial Photographs of Macao by Chan Hin Io and aerial video sharing was held on Thursday, 6 April, at 6:30pm, at Jao Tsung-I Academy. The ceremony was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leung Hio Ming; the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Chan Peng Fai and the photographer Chan Hin Io, among others.

Through aerial photography technology, the author of Picturesque Beauty of the Landscape, Chan Hin Io, captures a rich variety of Macao’s landscape from high altitude, including buildings, festivities, bridges, construction projects, among others, offering a distinctive composition and revealing the urban development and the city’s street network from new perspectives. While taking photographs, Chan Hin Io shot a video at high altitude in order to allow the public to experience the process of aerial photography and feel the beauty of a view that merges sky and landscape. The video was screened at the book launch ceremony, offering the public a different visual experience.

Chan Hin Io is a senior photographer nationwide and a renowned Macao photographer. In recent years, he has been devoted to capturing Macao’s customs as well as the city’s landscape, collecting several photography awards. Among his published works are The Neighbourhood of Macao – Documentary Photographs by Chan Hin Io, Memories of the Old Crafts and Trades in Macao and Where the World Heritage Shines – Photographs of the Historic Centre of Macao. Among these, Where the World Heritage Shines, published by the Cultural Affairs Bureau in 2015, is a photography album that take photographs of the Historic Centre of Macao as theme, revealing the beauty and exuberant vitality of the world heritage buildings. The album has been highly sought after since it was launched and was already sold out; a revised edition is now released and published at the same time with Picturesque Beauty of the Landscape.

The aerial video Picturesque Beauty of the Landscape is about 5 minutes and will be played continuously from 7 April to 25 May, from 2pm to 5pm, at the auditorium on the 2nd floor of Jao Tsung-I Academy. Visitors who enjoy the aerial video and like the “Arts & Academic Channel” page on Facebook can receive an exquisite publication by IC and the distribution is subject to availability.

Picturesque Beauty of the Landscape and Where the World Heritage Shines (revised edition)will be available for purchase on site at the price of MOP120 and MOP150 respectively.
