The 30th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) of the Cultural Affairs Bureau presents the concert “In an Italian Garden – L’Accademia d’Amore” on Tuesday, 18 October, at 8pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. William Christie, the world-renowned conductor and harpsichordist, leads Les Arts Florissants and its choir Le Jardin des Voix Academy. Those interested are advised to purchase their tickets as soon as possible.
The ensemble Les Arts Florissants, established by conductor William Christie, has played a phenomenal role in the revival of early music, specialising in performing Baroque instrumental music, opera, oratorio, madrigals and various kinds of religious music and offering great diversity in their performances. In this concert, the orchestra will present, together with the rising stars of Le Jardin des Voix Academy, Italian lyric works from the 16th to 18th centuries which explore the subjects of love, hatred and jealousy, among others, taking the audience in a leisurely journey through the beautifully dramatic world of early music with masterpieces by Banchieri, Vivaldi, Händel, Mozart and Haydn.
The 30th MIMF’s diverse programme continues this week with three concerts in different genres, namely “Ray Chen”, “Roy Hargrove” and “Reunion”. Limited tickets are still available for some of the programmes. For more information, please visit the Festival’s webpage at www.icm.gov.mo/fimm.
