Visions of Chinese Tradition

Chinese lacquer painting is derived from the longstanding lacquer art, which is an important art form in the Chinese art history. Jiangxi has been a major lacquer art town in China since ancient times and a large number of exquisite lacquer wares were unearthed here. Its lacquer paintings are one of the representatives of modern lacquer art, and are distinguished in employing traditional techniques to present innovative and expressive ideas, winning acclaim for their varied styles and vivid colours. This exhibition will showcase a series of delicate works by modern lacquer masters who use crushed egg shells to create natural cracks in the paintings themed on China.
