One of the four Great Chinese Literary Classics – Dream of the Red Chamber – serves as the blueprint for this Cantonese Opera, which gathers an outstanding team of performers and staff from the elite of Cantonese Opera and entertainment circles. The preparation work required to present this rarely seen ‘grand production’ in Macao, Hong Kong and Guangdong began several years ago.

The leading roles are performed by the country’s top female leads: cinema darling Connie Chan plays a trouser role as the handsome Jia Baoyu, whilst National Class I Actress and Plum Blossom Prize- Winner Jiang Wenduan plays the part of Lin Daiyu. The accurate and incisive interpretations from this all-star cast – featuring mellow and full voices, a natural and unrestrained manner, elegant figures and good looks – yield delicate and moving performances.

A new version of this classic, poignant love tragedy, Dream of the Red Chamber is destined to move the hearts of audiences!
