M. Glinka: Overture to the opera Ruslan and Lyudmila
D. Shostakovich: Cello Concerto No. 1, op. 107
P. I. Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6in B minor, op. 74 “Pathétique”

Tang Muhai, the first and only Chinese conductor invited to perform by Herbert von Karajan and the only apprentice of this renowned conductor, has earned resounding fame and made numerous impressive achievements in international music circles over the past two decades. Returning to Macao five years after his last performance here, the talented musician offers us yet another fascinating concert, this time joining forces with world-class cellist Jian Wang, known as the “prodigy cellist of China”. Wang performs an electrifying masterpiece that is one of the finest in his repertoire, Shostakovich’s First Cello Concerto,.

The Symphony No. 6 in B minor “Pathétique” is far more than Tchaikovsky’s first breakthrough. It is a significant work that will perennially form a part of the history of music. This symphony, which Tchaikovsky regardedas his “best work”, embraces influential and touching melodies depicting the composer’s feelings toward the tragedies of life. The work, premiered a few days before Tchaikovsky’s death, in some sense describes the destiny of the mighty musician.

Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy such famous music presented by notable masters!
