The Guangzhou Ballet (Mainland China)

The Guangzhou Ballet, one of Mainland China’s most youthful, innovative and technically grounded ballet companies was formed in 1994 and is the most recent dance company in China. Artistic Director Zhang Dandan is a former Principal in the Central Ballet of China (now the National Ballet of China), and a National Class One Performer. Winner of numerous dance awards in China and abroad, the Guangzhou Ballet has a wide-ranging repertoire which includes such western classics as Swan Lake, Lady of the Camellias, Romeo and Juliet and The Nutcracker, and original ballets on Chinese themes Mei Lanfang, The Yellow River, The Butterfly Lovers etc. The Ballet has toured the United States, France, Japan, and Singapore, winning critical acclaim.
