Enamel Icons: Advertising in Europe 1895~1935

21/3 - 25/8/2002 10:00 ~ 19:00     Macao Museum of Art

This outstanding exhibition gives an overall view of the use of enamel advertisements, reflecting the significance such works had in the world of art and advertising at the turn of the last century. The very rare works presented were produced in some of countries at the forefront of industrialized Europe, namely Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, France and Czechoslovakia, during a time span (1895-1935) corresponding to one of the richest creative periods in European history. Some of the works on display are closely connected to or represent the artistic movements of that time while others provide an early hint of features of art movements that developed later, such as Pop Art and Hyperrealism.
