Competition Music

1. Participants should perform the piece as written on the sheet music. Should a participant deviate from, or make any changes to, the notations on the sheet music during the performance, the judges will decide whether and how the participant’s overall score will be affected.
    
2. Details about the compulsory pieces can be downloaded from the website of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, accessible at www.icm.gov.mo. Interested parties may also access sheet music for the compulsory pieces at the Tap Seac Gallery (Avenida Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida, 95).
    
3. If participants and accompanists need to use sheet music while performing, they must use an original version. The use of photocopied sheet music, or photocopied portions of sheet music attached to an original, constitutes a violation of the Competition Rules. Participants found to be in violation of this rule may be disqualified from the competition; they may still be permitted to perform on stage, but the judges will only give them a written assessment. They will not be awarded a score or compete for any prizes.
    
4. For the elective piece, participants may not choose a piece they have performed in previous competitions. In addition, the same piece may not be used in more than one category in this year’s competition.
    
5. Should a participant wish to change his/her elective piece, s/he must do so before May 13, 2008. No changes or substitutions will be accepted after that date.
