Ling is presently Director
of the Hui Carving School and Director of the She
ink stone Museum of Xin’an. He has practised the art for
more than 20 years, having been influenced by famous
artisans since a tender age, and has long participated
in the archiving and study of ink stone culture. His
works have been recognised many times at ink stone
exhibitions held in Beijing, Shanghai, Fujian, Henan,
Taiwan, Malaysia, Korea and so forth. |

China National Artists Association, Xiang Desheng has been fond of art since an
early age, and his works are valued for collection and appreciation. In 1995, he
was accorded China Folk Artist/Craftsman recognition by UNESCO and the China

Wu Chenglin has inherited the
mantle of famous ink making Master Cao Sugong. He has devoted himself to the
propagation of the Hui ink stick art and has developed hundreds of ink works
such as the tea ink stick, green ink stick and cinnabar ink stick. His works
Portrait of Cotton Farming and Weaving and 45 Scenes of West Lake are
included in the permanent collection of the China Arts and Crafts Museum and
took gold in the National Crafts Competition. |

XUAN PAPER PRODUCTION
Zhang Biliang

Zhang has long been engaged in
the management and production of Xuan paper and is currently Director of
Sanxing Paper Co., Ltd. in Jing County in Anhui Province, which produces more
than 100 types of paper. In 2009, the company published a commemorative paper
called “Pine and Crane Strong White Xuan Paper”, featuring the continuous
pattern of pine and crane. This uniquely styled paper, rich in auspicious
meaning, replicated the ancient style of Xuan paper used in the Ming and
Qing dynasties. |

XUAN BRUSH PRODUCTION
Huang Kai

Huang Kai has been specially
guided by masters since he was small. He has invested huge efforts in the
exploration and renovation of brushes on the basis of traditional craftsmanship
and has made a number of significant breakthroughs. His productions include the
‘Lotus Seedpod’, ‘Tieyuan Nos. 1-3’ and ‘Replica of Ancient Ceramic Brush’. He
is one of the famous Xuan brush artisans of Huizhou City. |

CHINESE PAINTING
Zhou Youlin

Zhou Youlin, a famous artist from
Anhui Province, has practised painting birds and flowers for decades. Having
studied under masters such as Liu Haisu, Huang Yecun and Li Boying, he has
mastered the harmonising of nature with painting. His works also attract much
attention from society, with Luoyang in Spring awarded first prize at the
Peony Art Exhibition by the Ministry of Culture. He is a member of the Hanmo
Cultural Institute under the Ministry of Culture. |
