The Art Festival competition 2007 Macao Annual Art Exhibition has ended its collection period on October 29 and has received a total of 407 artworks submitted by 189 local artists.
The organizer, the Cultural Affairs Bureau, had its appraisal session for these artworks on November 25 in the Fortress Corridor. The organizer welcomed interested parties to show up were not allowed to talk to the jury, or enter into the area which was reserved for the appraisers so that the was not be interrupted.
The Macao Annual Art Exhibition, on display during the Macao Art Festival, is one of the major exhibitions of the Cultural Affairs Bureau. Collection period for the 2007 Macao Annual Art Exhibition was launched from October 27 to 29 with a total of 189 artists joining in, exceeding the total number of participants from last year.
The media of presentation adopted by different artists was more diversified, ranging from ink painting, calligraphy (seal cutting), painting, photography, sculptures, installations, posters, videos and the use of mixed media, adding up to a total of 407 artworks.
The jury panel is composed of Miao Chongan, council member of the Chinese Artists Association and committee member of the Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Painting, Lin Jiayang, Dean of College of Communication and Art, Tongji University of Shanghai, Bryn Campbell, renowned photographer and picture editor and writer on photography, Yu Zheng, member of the Seal Cutting Art Committee of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and Prof. Wang Chunjie of the International School of Communication Design, Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai.
Like in previous editions, Top Ten Entries will be selected, disregarding the kind of media employed in their presentation, and will be used to represent Macao in upcoming exchange programs hosted abroad.
The list of winners will be announced at the Macao Art Net (www.macaoart.net) in early December.
