To promote local art creation and to encourage the innovation of new ideas and techniques, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government now invites submission of entries for the 2006 Macao Annual Art Exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is “Embracing Life, Expressing the Contemporary” and the collection period is from October 28 to 30. Excellent works will be on display in the Macao Art Festival held in March 2006.
As the theme “Embracing Life, Expressing the Contemporary” implies, arts with the ability to reflect the spirit of this era and to convey the concern of contemporary life-style are invited for submission. There are no limitations on the use of materials. Works created after 2003 and have never been submitted to the Cultural Affairs Bureau for previous exhibitions are welcome. Each participant may submit a maximum of three entries. Artists are also encouraged to submit a group of works created by several artists or in different styles for group exhibition. Overseas art professionals will be invited to select entries in mid-November. Selected entries will be on display in the Macao Art Festival held in March 2006. In addition to the selected entries, ten annual “Best Entries” will also be selected.
The previous five Macao Annual Art Exhibitions have helped to stimulate artistic expression and in bringing new talents to light. These exhibitions have also promoted art education and raised the standard of art in Macao.
