Coinciding with the submission of entries for the 2005 Macao Annual Exhibition of Visual Art, the Cultural Institute now announces the submission of entries for “Macao Horizon – Exposition of Contemporary Art”. The theme “Macao Horizon” aims to promote contemporary art production with the characteristics of Macao being influenced by globalization, and in doing so, research Macao’s future development of local art.

The exposition intends to present a series of works created by seven or eight artists. Each participant will be able to display a production of any media in an area of 20m2 to 30m2. Artists who are interested in joining the exhibition could submit, before December 4, an application form and an exposition plan explaining the theme and ideas of the work, together with its floor plan, blueprint and pictures. The Cultural Institute will announce the results before December 15 and will notify the participants to start producing their works, which will be displayed in the Tap Seac Gallery between 2005 and 2006.

The exposition aims to foster and improve local contemporary art creation, to disclose talented artists and to motivate the innovation of conceptualization and techniques in visual art, and to stimulate thoughts, researches and expressions in the development of local art and culture.

The Cultural Institute has already sent out related regulations and application forms to some artists. The regulations could also be obtained from the Headquarters of the Cultural Institute, the Central Library and its district branches, the Tap Seac Gallery and local major bookstores, or download from the Cultural Institute’s website (www.icm.gov.mo) or the Macao Art Net (www.macauart.net).
