photography exhibition has opened at the Tap Seac Gallery on August 14. Works by
Lai Wing Chiu capture the charms of old Macau.
In coordination with the 2004 Macau Heritage Preservation
Year, the exhibition displays a number of Macau photographs by Lai Wing Chiu,
which attempts to bring people back to the leisure that old Macau once
possessed. The contrasts of black and white, light and dark, fully portray the
beauty of this small city.
Wing Chiu is a renowned photographer in Macau. He started studying photography
in 1975 and established the Macau Photography Salon Society in 1978. Lai’s
photography is internationally approved. He was once acclaimed one of the
world’s “ten most outstanding photographers” and was invited to join the jury of
an international photography exhibition.
Lai has received more than 20 honorary fellowships including
the "Diamond Star Exhibitor" and the "Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society".
The "Charms of Old - Exhibition of Photography by Lai Wing
Chiu" will last until October 31.
