Cultural Institute will launch “Charms of Old - Exhibition of Photography by Lai
Wing Chiu” on August 14 in the Tap Seac Gallery, showing precious photographs
capturing the charms of old Macao.
In coordination with the “2004 Macao Heritage Preservation Year”, the exhibition
will display a number of Macao scenic photographs with unique angles and
meaningful connotations. Lai Wing Chiu went through the city’s streets and
alleys to capture with his unique techniques a sense of elegance and comfort.
His photographs bring people back to the leisure that old Macao once possessed.
The contrasts of black and white, light and dark, fully portray the beauty of
this small city.
Chiu is a renowned photographer in Macao. He started studying photography in
1975 and established the Macao Photography Salon Society in 1978. Lai’s
photography is internationally approved. He was once acclaimed as one of the
world’s “ten most outstanding photographers” and was invited to join the jury of
an international photography exhibition. Lai has received more than twenty
honorary fellowships including the “Diamond Star Exhibitor” and the “Fellow of
the Royal Photographic Society”.
The “Charms of Old - Exhibition of Photography by Lai Wing Chiu” will kick-off
on August 14 at 3pm in the Tap Seac Gallery. At 4pm, Lai will host a lecture in
the same venue. Those who are interested in the lecture should telephone 335140
