Type Music Competition

The Chinese and Western instruments contest of the 36th Macao Young Musicians Competition, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, carried on at the Institute for Tourism Studies last week. The competitions were overwhelming and the winners earned recognition for their performances.

In the string concerto category, the first, second and third prizes were awarded to Law Tak Yin, Lou Ut Kei and Wang Iat Fan Tony. In the cello intermediate category, the first prize was not awarded, while the second and third prizes were awarded to Han Pok Man and Ashley Jessica Xiao. In the cello advanced category, the first and second prizes were not awarded, while the third prize was awarded to Lou Ut Kei. In the cello elementary level, the first, second and third prizes were awarded to Pao Lok Ian, Hsieh Kai Cing and Park Go Eun. In the category of chamber music for string instruments, the first prize was awarded to Chio Nga Weng, Lam Lok Hang and Lou Ut Kei; the second prize was awarded to Lo Sio Fong, Ho Weng Si, Cheung Weng Man and Law Tak Yin; and the third prize was awarded to Leung Chin Yan and Lopes Bento Benedita.

In the violin advanced category, the first, second and third prizes were awarded to Law Tak Yin, Chu Man Chi Doris and Edward Chai. In the violin elementary category, the first, second and third prizes were awarded to Wang Iat Ham Sabrina, San Chong Hong Nathan and Wai Cheng Nam. In the violin intermediate category, the first prize was not awarded, while the second and third prizes were awarded to Zhang Kehan and Chan Lok Io. In the saxophone elementary category, the first, second and third prizes were awarded to Chan Chon Iek Eugene, Chao Ka Wang and Leong Ka Wai. In the saxophone intermediate category, the first, second and third prizes were awarded to Chiang Kei Lok, Leong Nga Chi and Chan Hou Long. In the saxophone advanced category, the first and second prizes were awarded to Chan Wai Chon and Chan Lok Si, while the third prize was not awarded. Further Distinction and Merit Prizes were awarded in the same categories to several participants.
