In order to raise public awareness about the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage, every year on the occasion of the China Cultural Heritage Day, the Cultural Affairs Bureau organizes a series of activities for the citizens in general, including free visits to World Heritage sites and museums, performances in World Heritage sites as well as exhibitions and workshops, among others.

Knowing the Historic Centre of Macao

The Historic Centre of Macao was inscribed in the World Heritage List on 15 July 2005, becoming the 31st site in China to be inscribed.

This ensemble of heritage value corresponds to the urban centre of the old city, bringing together some of Macao’s main historical buildings, interconnected by streets and public piazzas, which still keep their original urban structure and continue to represent the interchange spirit of Macao that persists for more than 400 years.
